Open Talk: Arab Women Filmmakers Now
One of the most noticeable trends in Arab cinema is the great accomplishments women filmmakers, especially a new generation of filmmakers have been making. This year’s special section, ‘Focus 2020: Arab Women Filmmakers Now’ focuses on 5 films with fresh viewpoints on Arab society from Arab women filmmakers, both veteran and emerging directors who earned worldwide acclaim at major film festivals with their debut works. In this Open Talk, the lives of Arab women of today, that the films depict, and filmmaking practice of Arab women filmmakers that is increasingly diverse and active in recent years will be discussed.
